Polo

Polo ponies dying isn’t a good thing, especially if you like horses. I had seen the title of a few articles and heard on the news about the death of the 21 horses. I had thought they were race horses, though. Although, it really doesn’t make much of a difference. They are all the same thing to the general public. Horses. I myself like horses, quite a bit. I have ridden horses in many different places and different terrains around the world and I even spent part of my childhood, when I was shorter, around them.

The 21 dying at once sounds a lot like somebody made a horrible mistake or somebody was making a statement. Anybody who would use horses like that to make a statement is kind of crappy in my book. I didn’t entertain the thought of it being on purpose until I read a Time article on it, then it kind of crept into my thinking. They figure it was tainted medicine, but the question is why did the horses get it? There is even question about whether the medicine was legal for them to be giving to the horses in the first place. The FDA says, no.

Then you have the owner, a Venezuelan banker, who reads like some sort of shady underworld czar. That impression could be wholly from the way they wrote the article, but I am going to run with it anyway because it sounds more reasonable than their vet did an oops and killed 21 of their horses.
He has had several legal issues in the states, including having to pay fines due to lying about information he had. According to the article he can’t invest in US banks without government permission.

He has houses, cars and everything else you expect of those who are big time in a shady world. The horses are supposedly worth around $100,000 each, and he transports them on private jets. There seems to be an indication that he cares for them and is not hurting in any way that would make him try to dump them. It looks like they were important to him, which makes it even more likely that somebody was either threatening him or warning him.
