Driving really brings to mind insurance. There are so many idiots out there, yes, excluding me. Drivers that really have no business being on the road or even playing with those toy race tracks, they should stick to, perhaps, video game driving only. Why bring up video game driving? I bring it up because many people out there appear to have learned how to drive from there. Thinking about it, if people are going to drive like they are in a video game then insurance makes a whole lot more sense.
I think you can get whiplash injury symptoms from regular driving, sometimes from just accelerating but mostly from the deceleration caused by incompetent drivers. There truly are a lot out there. Drivers that drive a bit below the speed limit are fine, long as they remain in the correct lane, but when they drive a lot below the limit or get in the fast lane and run slow it causes a huge problem for just about everyone else having the misfortune of being on the road with them at the time. They completely impede any regular flow of traffic, causing delays and often accidents.
Each time we go driving it pays to pay a lot of attention to those around you, don’t know if it is just my friends and I but we have been seeing a lot more drivers who put aside their intelligence when they get in the car. They drive like idiots, inconsiderate idiots. I think the inconsiderate part is the main problem, if half the drivers out there made an effort to be just generally considerate of the other drivers on the road, every drive would be a lot more enjoyable and probably much safer. People just forget that, they seem to feel that once they get in the car the rest of the world becomes somebody else’s problem, the inside of the car becomes the limits of their world. That is a complete shame because their now limited world is constantly moving and constantly interacting with many other people’s worlds; wish more people would remember that.

Still thinking about homes and insurance, now just thinking about them together. I got all of my insurance stuff paid, if you read before I was talking about all the bills coming due at once. That is not fun. I have also mentioned wanting to get a house, well it occurred to me, while having to pay the other things that something I need to keep in mind is the additional costs of a house, which I hadn’t really thought of. The first obvious one, is of course, insurance. You kind of need to have some sort of home insurance, at least it makes sense to me. I haven’t kept up much with home insurance news but I know there have been issues just like with any other type of insurance so you have to be careful who you trust for your insurance. After insurance, I thought about taxes. Those can take a large amount, yearly. That really depends on where you live and what kind of tax stuff they have going.
Home ownership really does have a lot of extra costs associated with it. I thought of insurance and taxes and then that just led me on down the road to consider other things I am going to have to account for after buying a home. Maintenance is a big one. Living in an apartment a lot of times maintenance is taking care of for you by management so you don’t have to worry much. That includes appliances. Your fridge breaks, dryer on the fritz? No problem. Call the management and they will send somebody out to take a look at it and if needed, replace it. Can’t beat that! But when owning a home, the only management you can call is yourself. There is also the security system as well, you will have to take that into account. How much, if any, you want to spend or what type you want to go with. Makes me sit back a moment; definitely have to do more thinking about this as there is a lot to consider with a new house. I still feel that it is worth it, long as you are aware of what you are doing.

I missed car insurance last week when I was talking about my insurance stuff being due. Well, no real surprise here, but it will be due in about a month. I attempted to shop around last time it was due, but there really wasn’t much difference. It seemed like an average of thirty or forty dollars either way. Which is really not enough to switch for. Switching entails more paperwork which of course is usually a pain in the butt. So unless I can find a difference of one to two hundred I don’t think it’s worth the trouble. At least not right now. There really don’t seem to be that many quality insurance companies available. Many of them seem to focus on their profit not on their customers, which makes the idea of switching a bit scary as well because you really don’t know what you might end up with.
One of the big problems with choosing car insurance, and a big deterrent to changing it just based on price is quality. I have read through a lot of the reviews and it appears that several of the current insurance companies are wonderful, but then the next place I check has them as worse than in-laws. That makes it somewhat challenging to decide on who to pick for insurance. A car insurance quote is easy to get, long as you are willing to part with all of your private information. Up to and including the names you have chosen or are going to choose for your children or future children. And, yes, that is a complaint. General, good car news is so much easier to find, and easier to trust. But we still need to have car insurance, which unless there is a huge price difference, means it is easier just to stick with your current insurer.

Talking about insurance the other day reminded me I really need to look into life insurance. I am sure a lot of people don’t have it but I was thinking it would be a good idea to have if you have anyone you are taking care of or really close to. Especially if you have a family, small or large. Life insurance could be a really good thing, although at first glance it often seems like a waste of money. At least to me it does. I sat down and thought about it the other day though and I would feel better now knowing that those I care for would be given a bit of help if something happened to me, and if I was totally honest it would make me feel better to know that if the person I was closest too had something happen to them, while working through grief, work would not have to be something I had to focus on. That would be tough. I have done it with friends, but with family? I know that would not be the most fun thing I have ever done.
I have kind of looked into it and I am sure there are a lot of ways to find life insurance news and stuff, but I think it is best to have somebody you trust to talk with about it first. If it is something you know quite a bit about it probably isn’t necessary but myself, I just don’t know that much about it. There are sites and stuff online that you can find out some information about life insurance. I think there are even some places that will help you figure out how to choose a good life insurance. I have thought about it a lot but have yet to really do anything with the thought. It seems like a bit of a hassle cause I think you have to have a physical first, but it is probably something that would be a good idea for me to do anyway.

It’s about that time of year again, when all my insurance stuff is due. It being due is not really a problem; the problem is that they always want money to renew things. Been with them for awhile now, wouldn’t it be nice if, just once they’d smile and say, “No worries, this one’s on us.” I might faint, but I would probably never look around for a better rate. Really, if a company would do that, what else might they do for their customers?
Right now, kind of checking around to see what kind of deals I can get on renters insurance. It is due in the next few days and I am trying to see what I can find that might be more palatable to my wallet. My wallet seems to change what it likes or dislikes almost daily. I am finding, though, that it seems to like bills that are cheaper, but only if it can still get similar quality in service or item. Especially now, more expensive does not always mean better quality. As an example I found a wheat bread that I really like at the local grocery store. It’s a whole loaf and it toasts well and tastes good toasted or not toasted. It is only about 88 cents. That beats even some of the discount bread loafs, it really beats the stores own type of bread. The great thing about it is that it tastes good! And it lasts awhile. Can’t really beat it. I often refrain from buying other bread, I’ll wait until this one gets restocked. Mainly because I know I like it and it is such a great price!
Choosing cheap on insurance is probably not a very good idea anyway. I often spend quite a bit of time reviewing car insurance companies, looking at reviews and calling friends to see what company they have and how it has treated them. With insurance it is better to shoot for quality and a company that has a good customer service record.

Still thinking about properties and realized there is more that I would have to worry about. I would have to consider home insurance if I bought a place. Well, probably not consider it, I would have to get it. I think it is a good idea in practice but I have heard good and bad about the insurance companies. I think it really depends on the company and the relationship you have with your agent.
Not to completely change the subject but thinking about insurance makes me realize I need to look into insurance brokers. I need to look into different types of available insurance. I do have some insurance coverage, like car and stuff but probably need to get other things like life and property. Insurance can be a good thing to have. Although, the last time I had to use the car insurance they bit me. If I had known what a pain it would be to my pocket book in premiums later I would have just paid for the dents to be fixed myself. It was only like a few hundred off the deductible, but I didn’t know what claiming the stuff would do to my rates at the time. I ended up paying a lot more in the long run than I would have by just fixing everything myself. The company was nice otherwise, and quick, so I can’t really complain about them but I wish they hadn’t told me it wouldn’t affect my rates when it would. I learned that if something is not explicitly not your fault then you are probably going to see raised rates. Even if it was nobody’s fault or partially your fault. In my cause it had been nobody’s fault. It was depressing later, and I ended up changing companies. I did consider staying or going back to the company I had but I just couldn’t get over being told my rates weren’t going up when they did. I ended up changing to the ones I have now and I am fairly happy with them so far.

Its somewhat funny, I was just talking to a friend of mine yesterday about drivers and it comes up again. It is such a large part of a lot of our lives that it just makes sense to complain about it. I have a couple of things to complain about here, so yes, this is a rant. A light rant, though. So, don’t worry, it will be over soon.
Driving across the bridge the other day I just about rear ended some idiot in front of me, and almost gave myself whiplash again. There was an accident on the other side of the bridge and, for unexplainable reasons, idiots must slow down when passing an accident that is across a divider and several feet of water. Yeah, didn’t make sense to me either. The guy dropped by about 10 mph. I was really annoyed. I didn’t have to slam on my breaks, but it is good that I actually pay attention to what is around me when I drive instead of staring at accidents across the way that have nothing to do with me. Honestly, anymore if I see an accident on the other side of the road I start to prepare myself because I know, with certainty, that somebody is going to slow down drastically, swerve or do something else that indicates a lack of driving intelligence. What was really sad about the whole thing was that he wasn’t the only one that slowed down a lot, most people around him did too, including drivers in the other lanes.
I think you really have to be careful, especially with what they are saying about many people choosing to drive without insurance now. I don’t think I would do that, just not worth the trouble. Some of these drivers should be taking out double or triple the regular insurance, just based on how they drive. Ok. I am done with my rant. Thanks for listening.
