Not doing it.
Alright, if you were reading yesterdays then todays will make a lot of sense to you. Procrastination is what I want to talk about today. I think it logically follows from yesterday and the time sink. I don’t know about you but a lot of times when I feel that I have beaten procrastination it comes back in the next round and wins it. It really seems to be a continual process. I would like to finally beat it one day (that is probably the procrastination talking. The ‘one day’ stuff anyway).
Beating procrastination seems to come down to the infamous baby steps, or the one step at a time theory. I have found that if I can set at least one thing to accomplish each morning, for that day and actually accomplish it then I have won a round. To be honest I think procrastination is still ahead but I am starting to pull off more upset wins. I still have a few rounds to go though. I am setting goals and using those as blows to procrastination. Daily and long term ones that will get done. I think that dealing with procrastination really comes down to perseverance. It is a lot like the race fable, that of the tortoise and the hare. Slow but study continual effort and just don’t give up.
When I first started using lists I began with a bunch of daily activities that I would write or type out and expect to finish during the day. I found that expectation did not seem to meet actual occurrences. So I gave a few wins to procrastination and trimmed my list down. I have become very stubborn and refuse to trim my list any further, though. As a matter of fact one major goal that I am currently hammering away at is the one that allows me to successfully grow and complete my daily lists.
