Stationary grabbing.

I have a bit of a strange preoccupation with stationary. You know pens and pads, different paper and writing types of materials. It does not mean that I hate trees, I just really appreciate them. It is a bit of a fascination with me. Whenever I used to stop by a new place, or a new country I always used to hunt down some of their stationary suppliers and stationers, just to browse a bit. I wasn’t really an office die hard but I did enjoy seeing the different types of papers available. I used to buy blank notebooks that I would keep around but hardly every fill up. That and drawing notebooks and pads. And as far back as I can remember I have always loved pens, with mechanical pencils coming in a close second. The big chain stores in various countries often had some stuff devoted to office and stationary type of stuff. They didn’t have the neat variety that an actual stationer did. In one of those stores, when you could find one, they had rows and rows of different pens and stacks of off the wall and neat notebooks for writing or drawing. They also had the other stuff of course, regular office materials and printers and shredders and stuff like that, but to me the important stuff were the pens and notebooks.

I would go out of my way for a new store that might have something different, something new and neat. I have ended up with a fairly nice collection of pens and notebooks or paper pads. There is just something about it that draws me, and no pun intended. Some people can spend a long time browsing clothes or shoes, things like that, but I can spend a comfortable hour or so browsing pens and notebooks. I hope that doesn’t make me strange, because I am sure there is a bunch of other stuff that would do that. Besides, I have found some really interesting stores in some really interesting parts of the world. There is a lot of stuff out there.
